Sea Horse Knight by HectorHimeros Sea Horse Knight by HectorHimeros
SAINT SEIYA - HIMEROS VERSION
*****************************
This is a fan art about Japanese manga/anime Saint Seiya drawn by Masami Kurumada. My version is very different. The story happens in Greek mythological era. When the Olympian gods fought the Titans, each god formed an army of knights. Hephaestus created all the armors for them. Athena only had 48 knights (according to the number of ancient constellations). When the war ended, half of Athena's army was dead. The survivors became rogue knights because their service was no longer required. Just like the original Greek version, Athena chose to mingle with other gods on mount Olympus - leaving humans at the mercy of mischievous gods and dangerous monsters. Each ex-Athena's knight then handed down their armor and power to their descendants or relatives. Although the war against the titans had ended, people still needed savior because sometimes Olympian gods caused havoc. Hence, the knights were still in business of saving lives.

CHARACTER INFO
****************
Pelops is my original character, inspired from real myth. He's the Seahorse Knight. As his title implies, he does own a seahorse or a hippocamp given by Poseidon. Therefore, Pelops often becomes Poseidon's official messenger. Among all generals, Pelops is the most loyal. Originally, Pelops is the son of king Tantalus of Sipylus. But he was murdered by his own father and was hacked to pieces. His body parts were cooked into a stew. The gods almost ate it but they soon realized what happened. Pelops was re-assembled and brought to life. Upon seeing the man's handsome face, Poseidon fell in love and brought him to his palace. Pelops became Poseidon's apprentice and lover.

DIFFERENCE WITH REAL MYTH
*************************
In the myth, Pelops' shoulder was eaten by Demeter, thus it was replaced with ivory shoulder by Hephaestus. Pelops was then taken to mount Olympus by Poseidon to be his lover. But Zeus kicked the man out after discovering Pelops' father stealing the gods' food.

Thank you. This is actually version 2. Version one is totally different, with rather bright bluish/green natural color and different model. But something was off. So I re-did it.

I'm glad you like the seahorse :) My initial idea was actually to use a real seahorse, preferably metal - like robot, but can't find free stock of it. So I made the mythological version. It has to "fly" coz it's not underwater scene.

I think that I like the mythological version better as I think that with the knight and all of his armor, that the horse should be something more organic.

That's so true ^_^ Well, I re-edited Sea Horse Knight. I think sunset scene looks more powerful and the model needs to be replaced.
