SAINT SEIYA - HIMEROS VERSION
*****************************
This is a fan art about Japanese manga/anime Saint Seiya drawn by Masami Kurumada. My version is very different. The story happens in Greek mythological era. When the Olympian gods fought the Titans, each god formed an army of knights. Hephaestus created all the armors for them. Athena only had 48 knights (according to the number of ancient constellations). When the war ended, half of Athena's army was dead. The survivors became rogue knights because their service was no longer required. Just like the original Greek version, Athena chose to mingle with other gods on mount Olympus - leaving humans at the mercy of mischievous gods and dangerous monsters. Each ex-Athena's knight then handed down their armor and power to their descendants or relatives. Although the war against the titans had ended, people still needed savior because sometimes Olympian gods caused havoc. Hence, the knights were still in business of saving lives.

CHARACTER INFO
***************
Hades is the Greek god of the underworld. Many lesser-ranked gods live there also, such as Thanatos (God of Death). When the Titans invaded Olympus, Hades asked Hephaestus to forge 108 armors for his army. All his knights are basically souls of the dead who reside in his realm. Although many people think of Hades as evil god, he's actually very passive. Unlike other gods, Hades rarely causes any havoc. However, his knights sometimes do.

I love this. Joined in the contest as well, but if we're able to vote I don't like being one of those people that votes for herself... especially since I'm a beginner. You will most likely get my vote, it's the best so far. <3 Wonderful job.

Thanks. That's so kind of you ^_^ Which one is ur entry? I can't find it in the contest folder?

Yeah, I don't vote for myself either. But in voted contest, it's kind of hard for me to get support because my arts aren't exactly dreamy and most photomanip fans seem to prefer dreamy arts. Which is totally frustrating.

Thanks again for appreciating my art. It means a lot to me. Do check my profile for more ^_^

The two entries aren't up yet (haven't been accepted). Dreamy? Lol, I guess I understand what dreamy means... I like your style though.

Thanks ^_^ I'm happy to know you like my style. And I do look forward2seeing ur entries. Don't hesitate to ask me for some tips if you ever need any. I'd b glad to help.

Yeah, dreamy art is sort of like blurry photomanip where the model is airbrushed heavily. And most of dreamy arts are dominated by female models doing surreal pose or act, and lots of premades. Problem with dreamy arts, they all look the same. So if several dreamy artists mix their works together, you won't b able to tell who made which art.

I'm not sure what my art is called. By a friend said it's highly stylized glamor art. I just want my arts to stand apart from others. So even if the watermarks are taken out, you'll immediately know that it's my art.

Thanks. I didn't design the armor, though. Originally, it appeared for the first time in a manga called Saint Seiya, before appearing in anime, and then made as toy. So this art is actually a fan-art but with my own OC (presented by a model).

What I did basically combine toy armor and real human model. It took much effort to attach the head without looking fake. Trust me, it's not as easy as it looks. I have several failed arts already coz the heads don't go along well with the toy armor. Then another challenge came from creating believable background. The lighting is also cumbersome.

I'm glad you like it. Do check my profile for more arts :D

Very nice work

The job you did on the lighting is very impressive. From the orange reflecting on the legs to the difference between the light wings where the sunlight touches them to the darkness on the other side, it's just perfect!
I really like what you did with my Stock, it looks like castle on a cliff now. It's imaginative :) Also the colours are chosen well.

Your piece has a gloomy atmosphere, fitting to the theme of Hades. He's not looking like the bad demonlike Death I've seen him on many works before. Still there is a sence of evil lurking around him. I really like this interpretation.

Everything fits together nicely, good job!

And you know I love your boys

Thanks, I'm glad you like ^_^ Thanks for the deep observation. I'm very happy u noticed the subtle touches I put in my art.

I'm glad to know you like how I use your stock. It's a lovely one, quite adaptable. I do imagine Hades living in a gloomy castle somewhere in his scary realm. Yeah, I try to make my Hades look handsome as well as antagonistic at the same time. It took time to find the right model to portray Hades.

More knights to come.
